SLOW SPEEDS STOP AT MIDNIGHT
i've worked broadband support for bt wholesale, also end user internet support for virgin media, i know my way around computers, and i really know my way around broadband faults.
ive been on a 2.5mbps line with pipex for the past 4 years and have recieved "ample" service up to the point when tiscali and talk talk took over
not once until tiscali/talk talk takeover did i "ever" get slow speeds
maybe youtube was slow now and then but it wasnt a problem.
every day now i get slow speeds. not jsut during peak times
sometimes from 1pm-midnight - sometimes 7pm -midnight
sometimes 5-7pm and its fine after. sometimes its up and down like a yo yo.
i cant use youtube iplayer 4od or any streaming sites in the evening, which is my main reason for having inet.
my maximum download rate is about 240K/s
but when the conenction is throttled i cant get over 40K/s
the strangest thing is that if i run some torrents i get maximum speeds of 240k/s , also if i download something from STEAM i get full speeds.
(which makes it 100% clear that they are throttling certain traffic)
also the fact that the problem disapears around midnight
i spent £20 last month on my phonebill looking for help from the tech support. i have recieved NONE
the level of integrity in the tech support dept is pathetic.
they even started to try and blame something my end. this is the point i first spoke to a supervisor who advised that it was due to congestion
and to put up with it till they sort it out which is a lie
(IF IT WAS CONGESTION I WOULDNT GET FULL LINE SPEEDS ON TORRENTS)
(they are throttling traffic to make the shareholders more money)
OUR MONEY!!!!

Hi nood13s,
As with the last few posts on this forum, I would presume that your speeds are suffering because you have been moved to Talktalk/Opal LLU network. You might want to look up how Talktalk handle their traffic for streaming stuff. To be honest, I'm sure that this will improve within a month or two as Talktalk are in the process of integrating pipex/tiscali customers into their systems and eventually the service will be on par with Talktalk's (not sure if it's any better though).
My advice is give it a little bit of time and don't waste your money on calls to tech, they won't be able to help (at least at the moment).
Hope this helps

i raised a fault about this in june - they didnt contact me and have closed the fault off, reason given, im getting full line speeds
no fault - calling me a liar when im getting
0.2mb all evening on a 2.5mb line
i've raised another fault in july i havent heard from them in over 3 weeks.
expect pipex to ignore your slow speed faults and keep taking your money
indian tech support don't give a flying ***** about you as a customer, mainly because they seem to not understand what profesional conduct and accountability are.
